V Rising Beginner Build Guide
One clear path from your first bone sword to endgame — Sword to Greatsword progression with Brute blood at every stage.
📈 Stage-by-Stage Progression (GS 0-91)
Follow this table from fresh spawn to endgame. Each stage tells you exactly what weapon, blood type, and armor to use — and which boss unlocks the next upgrade.
| Gear Score | Weapon | Blood Type | Armor | Key Boss Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GS 0-15 | Bone Sword | Brute (any %) | Boneguard | Alpha Wolf (Leatherworking) |
| GS 15-30 | Copper Sword | Brute 20%+ | Nightstalker | Quincey the Bandit King (Iron) |
| GS 30-50 | Iron Greatsword | Brute 40%+ | Hollowfang | Octavian (Dark Silver) |
| GS 50-70 | Dark Silver Greatsword | Brute 60%+ | Dawnthorn | Styx (Bloodmoon crafting) |
| GS 70-91 | Bloodmoon Greatsword | Brute 90%+ | Bloodmoon → Sanguine | Dracula (Ancestral Forge) |
The key insight: start with Sword, switch to Greatsword at GS 30. Sword is faster and more forgiving while you learn boss mechanics. At GS 30, you have enough attack speed (from Brute blood) to make Greatsword feel smooth.
🦴 Early Game Setup (GS 0-30)
Your first 2-3 hours in Vardoran. Survival is the priority — this build keeps you alive while you learn the basics.
GS 0-15: The Bone Phase
| Slot | Choice | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Bone Sword | Craft from bones dropped by skeletons in the starter graveyard |
| Blood | Brute (any quality) | Kill any brute-type enemy. Bandit Thugs and Bears count as Brute blood. |
| Armor | Boneguard Set | Craft from bones + animal hide. Your first full set. |
| Spell | Shadowbolt (starter) | Your only spell at this stage. Use it to pull enemies one at a time. |
GS 15-30: The Copper Phase
| Slot | Choice | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Copper Sword | Mine copper ore in Bandit Copper Mine (Farbane Woods). Smelt into bars. |
| Blood | Brute 20%+ quality | Start checking blood quality. 20%+ is common on bears and bandit leaders. |
| Armor | Nightstalker Set | Copper bars + leather. Your first armor with a damage bonus (+physical). |
| Spells | Chaos Volley + Veil of Blood | Chaos Volley from Lidia the Chaos Archer. Veil of Blood from any high-level blood carrier. |
⚔️ Mid Game Transition (GS 30-70)
This is where you graduate from Sword to Greatsword and start fighting real bosses. The training wheels come off.
GS 30-50: The Greatsword Switch
| Slot | Choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Iron Greatsword | Switch from Sword. Iron Greatsword's charged heavy already hits 2x harder than Copper Sword. |
| Blood | Brute 40%+ quality | Farm bears in Dunley Farmlands. 40%+ Brute blood gives noticeable attack speed. |
| Armor | Hollowfang Set | Iron + Cotton. +Health and +Physical damage. Kill Quincey for Iron Smithing. |
| Spells | Sanguine Coil added | Heal on hit. Essential now that you're in melee range with Greatsword. |
GS 50-70: Dark Silver Power Spike
| Slot | Choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Dark Silver Greatsword | Significant damage jump. Kill Octavian for Dark Silver smithing. |
| Blood | Brute 60%+ quality | At 60%+, the attack speed bonus is transformative. Greatsword no longer feels slow. |
| Armor | Dawnthorn Set | Highest +Health bonus of this tier. Gives you the tankiness to trade hits with bosses. |
| Spells | Full PvE kit | Veil of Blood + Sanguine Coil + Chaos Volley. Your core rotation is now complete. |
👑 Endgame Goal (GS 70-91)
By endgame, your beginner build has evolved into a full Greatsword Brute PvE build. Here's the final form.
| Slot | Best-in-Slot | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Sanguine Greatsword / Legendary General's Greatsword | Craft at Ancestral Forge. Legendary variant from General Valencia has highest base damage. |
| Blood | Brute 90-100% quality | 25% attack speed at 90%+. Farm Gloomrot brutes for the best blood. |
| Armor | Sanguine Armor Set | Maximum all stats. Requires Ancestral Forge unlocked by killing Dracula. |
| Ultimate | Heart Strike | Kill Styx for this ultimate. Boss finisher + heal. The perfect capstone for this build. |
⚠️ Common Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
These five mistakes kill more new players than any boss. Avoid them and you'll progress twice as fast.
🎓 When to Graduate from Beginner Build
The beginner build is a stepping stone. Know when it's time to move on to a specialized build.
| Milestone | What Changes | Next Build |
|---|---|---|
| Reach GS 70 | You have Bloodmoon armor and a solid Greatsword. Brute blood at 60%+. | Full Greatsword PvE Build |
| Kill your first endgame boss (Styx, Dracula) | You understand boss patterns and can survive melee range. | Boss Killer Build |
| Start farming resources efficiently | You need large quantities of materials for endgame crafting. | Reaper Scholar PvE Build (#1) |
| Want to play PvP | PvP is a completely different game. PvE builds don't work against players. | Solo Build (PvP variant) |
The beginner build is designed to get you to GS 70 safely. After that, the game opens up and you can choose your specialization. Most players branch into Greatsword Brute (bosses) or Reaper Scholar (farming) by GS 70.
