V Rising Private Server Setup
No randoms, no griefers, no base-raiding while you sleep. Three methods to make your server private — password, hidden, or Steam friends-only.
🔒 Method 1: Password Protection
Simplest. Server visible but requires password.
In ServerHostSettings.json: "Password": "your_shared_password"
| ✅ Pros | ❌ Cons |
|---|---|
| Setup in 10 seconds | Anyone with password can join |
| Friends find easily in browser | Password can be shared |
👥 Method 3: Steam Friends-Only
No dedicated server. Host in-game, invite via Steam.
Play → Host Private Game → Shift+Tab → Invite Friend.
| Limitation | Impact |
|---|---|
| Host must be online | World only exists while host plays |
| Max 4 players | 5+ needs dedicated server |
| Host PC performance | Runs server + game simultaneously |
| No persistent world | Servants don't run missions offline |
Upgrade when: Group plays at different times, or more than 4 players.
🤝 Co-op Settings
| Setting | Co-op Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| GameModeType | PvE | No friendly fire |
| CastleDamageMode | Never | Bases always safe |
| ClanSize | 4 | Everyone shares one castle |
| MaterialYieldModifier | 1.5-2.0 | Less grind, more bossing |
| InventoryStacksModifier | 2.0 | Less inventory management |
| DurabilityLossModifier | 0.0 | Gear never breaks |
| TeleportBoundItems | true | Teleport with resources — biggest QoL fix |
