📋 How to Use This Boss Order Guide
V Rising has 64 V Blood carriers scattered across 5 regions. This guide presents them in the optimal kill order — follow the gear score column to know when you're ready for each boss. Each boss kill unlocks new crafting recipes, spells, forms, or structures that enable the next phase of progression.
The table below covers 31 critical progression bosses — the ones that gate your gear score, unlock key spells, or grant transformative abilities. The remaining 33 V Blood carriers are optional or side-grade encounters that provide alternative spells, cosmetics, and crafting recipes. You can skip most of them on a first playthrough, but killing them all is required for the "Collector" achievement and unlocks every spell in the game.
Gear Score (GS) is the single most important number in V Rising. Your GS is the average of your weapon and armor levels. Every boss has a minimum GS they were balanced for — fighting below that number means drastically reduced damage and increased incoming damage.

🌲 Farbane Woods — GS 0 to 20
The starter region. 15 V Blood carriers total, 8 critical progression bosses.
🛡️ Recommended Gear Before Entering
You start at GS 0 with Bone weapons and basic armor. Craft full Bone armor and a Bone Sword + Axe before your first boss. Farm copper ore near the bandit camp to reach Copper weapons (GS ~8) before taking on Keely or Lidia.
⚡ Key Progression Unlocks
Wolf Form (Alpha Wolf, GS 0) is the single most important unlock in the entire game — it replaces your walk with a sprint everywhere. Rat Form (Putrid Rat, GS 20) lets you sneak through enemy camps undetected.
Strategy: Farbane Woods is forgiving. You can kill Alpha Wolf, Rufus, and Errol with starting gear. Farm bandit camps for copper ingots and leather. Craft Copper weapons (GS ~8) before attempting Keely and Lidia. Grayson and Goreswine require some early-game armor — craft full Plated armor from Grayson's unlock.
Watch out for: The Bear boss (Goreswine) hits harder than you expect at GS 17. Use pillars and terrain to line-of-sight his charge attack. Bring healing potions.
By the time you finish Farbane Woods, you should be GS 20-22 with full Plated armor, Copper weapons at minimum, and all four movement forms unlocked (Wolf, Bear, Rat). Craft the Fishing Pole (unlocked from base research) and fish for early rare drops before moving to Dunley.
🌾 Dunley Farmlands — GS 20 to 50
The mid-game region. 20+ V Blood carriers, 11 critical progression bosses.
🛡️ Recommended Gear Before Entering
Enter at GS 22+. Craft full Reinforced Plate armor and Iron weapons (GS ~25) from smelting iron ore found in the Haunted Iron Mine northwest of Dunley. Do NOT enter at GS 20 — the militia patrols will kill you in 2 hits.
⚡ Key Progression Unlocks
Bandit Armor (Quincey) is your first real armor upgrade. Merciless Iron weapons (Terah) set you up for Cursed Forest. Frost Bat Form (Vincent) replaces Wolf Form with a glide — essential for crossing rivers.
Strategy: Dunley Farmlands has the most gear score range of any region — from GS 22 to GS 50. Do NOT rush. Progress through Dunley in three phases:
Phase 1 (GS 20-30): Clive, Polora, Quincey, Beatrice. Farm iron ore regularly. Set up a secondary castle in Dunley for fast respawning — the cliff area southwest of the Dunley Monastery is a popular spot.
Phase 2 (GS 30-40): Vincent, Leandra, Terah. Vincent's Frost Bat is transformative — prioritize him after Beatrice. Leandra is the first real spell-check boss; bring movement spells to dodge her shadow volleys.
Phase 3 (GS 40-50): Mairwyn, Octavian, Raziel, Jade. Jade (GS 50) is the hardest boss in Dunley — she has multiple phases and holy damage that counters vampires. Save her for last. Craft Merciless Iron weapons (Terah) before attempting Octavian.
Leave Dunley at GS 50+ with Merciless Iron weapons, Militia armor or better, Frost Bat Form, and all four spell slots unlocked.
🌿 Cursed Forest — GS 50 to 68
The high-tier region. 10 V Blood carriers, 5 critical progression bosses.
🛡️ Recommended Gear Before Entering
Enter at GS 52 minimum. Craft Dark Silver weapons (GS ~50 from Jade) and full Militia or higher armor. The Cursed Forest has a constant poison mechanic — bring poison resistance potions and healing spells.
⚡ Key Progression Unlocks
Sanguine weapons (Foulrot) are the best weapons before endgame. Dark Silver Armor (Cyril) provides the highest armor values pre-Silverlight. Spider Form (Ungora) lets you climb sheer walls.
Strategy: The Cursed Forest is the first region where positioning and preparation matter as much as gear score. The constant curse effect applies a stacking damage-over-time debuff — you need to manage your exposure.
Foulrot (GS 55): Your first Cursed Forest boss. The arena has curse vents you must avoid. Sanguine weapon unlock makes every subsequent boss significantly easier. Farm Foulrot early even if you need to try a few times.
Cyril (GS 58): A smith boss with heavy melee attacks. Use the pillars in his forge arena to kite him. His Dark Silver Armor unlock doubles your survivability in the Forest.
Gorecrusher (GS 62) & Ungora (GS 65): Two very different fights. Gorecrusher is a slow, heavy-hitting tank — bring Reaper for mobility. Ungora spawns spider adds constantly — use AoE spells and Sword or Greatsword for cleave.
Solarus (GS 68): The Cursed Forest's final boss. Solarus is a holy-typed boss, which means your vampire takes bonus damage from his attacks. Bring holy resistance potions and the best Sanguine weapons you can craft. His Immaculate Armor recipe is required before you can survive Silverlight Hills.
☀️ Silverlight Hills — GS 65 to 80
The pre-endgame region. 9 V Blood carriers, 4 critical progression bosses.
🛡️ Recommended Gear Before Entering
Enter at GS 68 minimum, ideally GS 70. Full Immaculate Armor (Solarus) and Sanguine weapons required. Silverlight is the most dangerous open-world zone — sunlight deals constant damage and every NPC patrol can kill you.
⚡ Key Progression Unlocks
Stormwing Form (Morian) unlocks flight — the best travel form. Sunbringer Armor (Azariel) is the best pre-endgame armor set. Curse spells (Matka) provide some of the highest DoT damage in the game.
Strategy: Silverlight Hills is the great filter of V Rising. The constant sun damage means you must always be aware of shadow paths. Silverlight is also the most densely populated region — you cannot pull one enemy at a time; most fights involve 3+ enemies.
Morian the Stormwing Matriarch (GS 70): Priority target #1. The Stormwing Form lets you fly over all terrain and enemies — it makes every subsequent boss in Silverlight dramatically easier. Morian is a flying boss herself; use ranged weapons (Longbow, Crossbow) and bring anti-air spells like Chaos Volley.
Henry Blackbrew (GS 73): A Doctor boss with alchemy adds. His potion recipes are valuable but not game-changing. Can be delayed until after Matka if you prefer.
Matka the Curse Weaver (GS 76): A DoT-focused caster boss. Bring healing spells and cleanse options. Her curse spells are excellent for PvP and high-end PvE boss fights.
Azariel the Sunbringer (GS 80): The hardest boss before the endgame. Azariel is a holy angel — all his attacks deal holy damage. You need max holy resistance potions and the best Sanguine weapons upgraded to at least +2. His Sunbringer Armor set is the gateway to Gloomrot.
⚡ Gloomrot & Endgame — GS 80 to 91
The final stretch. 8 V Blood carriers, 3 critical progression bosses.
🛡️ Recommended Gear Before Entering
Enter at GS 80 minimum. Full Sunbringer Armor (Azariel) and max-upgraded Sanguine or better weapons. Gloomrot has the highest-level enemies in the base game. At GS 80, even trash mobs hit hard.
⚡ Key Progression Unlocks
Firstborn spells (Adam) and Power spells (Voltatia) are the best abilities in the game. Dracula's spell set is the final reward — endgame transformation with unique abilities.
Strategy: Gloomrot is the endgame zone. Only three critical bosses here, but they are the hardest fights in the game. Gloomrot is a sprawling factory/techno-magical zone with tight corridors and dangerous environmental hazards (electric floors, exploding machinery).
Adam the Firstborn (GS 83): The first endgame boss. Adam has three phases with adds that spawn in phase 2. Use the arena's pillars to split Adam from his adds. Bring AoE spells for add clear. Adam unlocks the Firstborn spell line — high-damage melee-range abilities.
Voltatia the Power Master (GS 86): A caster boss with heavy electrical damage. She teleports frequently and has a devastating AoE burst. Use anti-magic spells (like Barrier) and staying-on-target weapons (Slasher or Swords). Voltatia's Power Mastery spells are the best PvP abilities in the game — high cooldown, but fight-turning effects.
Dracula the Immortal King (GS 91): The final boss of V Rising. This is the hardest fight in the game — a multi-phase encounter that tests everything you've learned. Dracula has:
- Phase 1: Melee combos with blood orbs — dodge through, don't block.
- Phase 2: AoE blood rain and summons — prioritize adds immediately.
- Phase 3: Full power — Dracula uses every spell type. You must use every survival tool you have.
